2015 Wimbledon Winter Wonderland

2015 Wimbledon Winter Wonderland

I have no idea why I didn’t know about this event when my children were little, especially as I have lived in the Wimbledon area ever since I moved to London. Is a great day out for the kiddies and perfect for Christmas shopping.

I have always loved markets, the little canopies with their colourful bunting and twinkling lights, the smell of hot food and the sight of cake displays constantly teasing my taste buds. I love meeting and getting know other traders with their vast array of different products and hand crafted goodies and of course, I really enjoy chatting with (and selling to) the lovely people who come to visit.

The Wimbledon winter wonderland is a huge event (organised by www.LoveWimbledon.org) … and the busiest market of the year. This was the first time I took part. The market ran from the Friday until the Sunday … the Sunday being the main day.

The Broadway closed to cars for the day to make way for a magical carousel, snowboard simulator, bucking reindeer and snow dome photoboth.

The kids (large and small) were delighted to see appearances from the giant snowman who waddled around the crowds posing for photos.

With a brass band playing in the piazza and lots of interesting Christmas characters mingling among the crowds … the start of the festive season was truly marked in style!

Love the way this angel catches the early evening light …

The Merton Mayor dropped by…

Amy the Christmas sheep dropped by…

A Christmas pudding dropped by … well, actually roller skated by…
… and of course Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a wee cuddle with Shrek!

A good time definitely had by all … good for business and lots and lots of fun.

Well done LoveWimbledon!
